Sometimes when I dream, I am swimming in the ocean I love so much. The light dances on the bottom of the sea and kelp joins the rhythm of the currents. Out of the darkness beyond, familiar black and white faces come into the light to greet me. We smile at each other and play games for hours and hours. I am like a child that never wants to stop pretending. When it's time to wake up I am sad to go but I know we will meet again soon.

Waking up is not all bad though, it only means I get to use my gifting to recreate what I saw. You may think that it is a horrible cliche for an artist to be inspired by such an over done subject matter such as whales. However, like many other 4 year old's that saw Free Willy in 1993, my heart has been forever taken with them. It’s a passion that just won’t cease and however many times I’ve tried to suppress it, they just keep swimming back into my dreams and onto the nearest surface I can paint on.

My style is childlike and I try to keep it very illustrative. In my art I try to paint from what I have seen in the natural world. However, I am a dreamer both waking and sleeping. There are moments I have had with animals in the wild and paint from those experiences. In my dreams though, I see them in settings both surreal and real. My mind is always flooded with emotions, color and far away places. I believe this gift is a great privilege and I am truly grateful to have the ability to share it with you.
